What is Primetime Content Decryption Module provided by Adobe Systems, Incorporated and where did it come from?

I noticed a new plugin in my firefox today called "Primetime Content Decryption Module provided by Adobe Systems, Incorporated"

I didn't install it, so I don't know how it got there. How did it get there? Did firefox or a flash update silently add it?

Adobe Primetime is a digital rights management system. Normally sites that stream DRM-protected video would use the Silverlight or Flash plugin. Mozilla arranged with Adobe to include the Primetime plugin with Firefox so that sites which want to stream their DRM-protected videos to the built-in HTML5 video player can do so. I don't know whether any sites actually do that yet...
