Firefox changed download procedure.
I've had to uninstall and reinstall Firefox about five or six times in addition to restoring profiles and doing System Restores many, many times over the past few days. And I noticed that while Firefox used to distinguish pictures from regular downloads, now the folder is always the same no matter what the file type. I have Firefox set to ask me where to save the file, but it always brings up the last folder I saved something to, regardless of file type. it didn't use to do that. It used to distinfuish pictures from other files, like .exe. It also used to distinguish files by site. If I downloaded a picture from site 1 on one tab to a specific folder, and another from site 2 on a different folder, it would open up a different folder depending on which site I was saving from. Now, it's always the last folder that a file was saved to. What happened? I liked it the previous way. My faith in FIrefox has greatly dwindled.

The best way to save files or images to a specific folder of your choice is to use an extension like "Save File to".
An alternative to the above extension is "Save Image in Folder." But you will also need its sister extension "Save Link in Folder" if you want to be able to save other files than images as well.
In my experience, both alternatives work great.
Well, after some time, it seems to work the old way sometimes or for certain sites. But thanks for the reply, I'm going to try those.
