How do I restore the closed captioning button on the video player screen?

more options

The closed captioning button is no longer visible on the video player screen when I go to the Fox TV website and try to watch episodes of a TV show using Firefox. I have tried using two different computers. The closed captioning button is visible when I use Internet Explorer, but I'd rather use Firefox. Any suggestions as to how to fix this?

I compared Google Chrome: in Chrome, when I mouse over the player, a couple of buttons float over the right side, Share and CC, but I don't see those in Firefox.

Could this be related to the recent Flash update to version 18? I haven't heard of this problem before, so I'm just speculating.

If this is a version 18 issue and CC is a critical feature for you, it might be worth trying the "Extended Support" release of Flash, which is version 13 with security fixes. It is available on this page: https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html (about 60% of the way down)

That probably won't install without first removing the version of Flash you have, so since there is some effort involved, you might wait for further comments before trying it.
