How can I only save sent mail on server and not have thunderbird download every time I open the program?

IMAP and every time I open Thunderbird it is so slow because it is downloading my sent mail from server. I want my sent mail saved to server and none on hard drive.

either you have your mail on your machine or you do not. I assume you i the do not camp.

Right click the account in the folder pane, select settings. In synchronization and storage deselect the store messages for this account on this computer.
