How to force FireFox to fit ALL pages to the window, because I don't need horizontal scroll bars on a 50" monitor.

Laptop with win 7 and the newest Firefox. All works fine except with my eyesight I have problems seeing the small laptop screen, so I bought a 50" monitor. Now I have to scroll everything side to side as well as up and down, annoying! I want to force Firefox to always fit the width so I don't have to make drastic changes from when I am mobil to when I am home. And yes you are reading this correctly, Firefox puts horizontal scroll bars on my 50" monitor, and not my 17"

Try to set layout.css.devPixelsPerPx to 1.0 (default is -1) on the about:config page. If necessary adjust its value in 0.1 or 0.05 steps (1.1 or 0.9) until icons or text looks right.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

You can look at the Default FullZoom Level or NoSquint extension to set a default font size and page zoom on web pages.
