The Silverlight plugin is not showing up in the troubleshooting data that has been provided on this support forum.

Please ensure that you have downloaded the Silverlight Firefox plugin from the Silverlight website.

Don't forget to please check if all your plugins are up-to-date. To do this, go to the Plugin Check site.

Once you're there, the site will check if all your plugins have the latest versions. If you see plugins in the list that have a yellow Update button or a red Update now button, please update these immediately.

To do so, please click each yellow or red button. Then you should see a site that allows you to download the latest version. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation and follow the steps mentioned in the installation procedure.

If none of that works, please ensure that the Silverlight plugin is enabled. To do so, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to Tools > Add-ons in the menu bar (or Ctrl + Shift + A on the keyboard)
  2. Select Plugins on the sidebar
  3. Locate the Microsoft Silverlight plugin
  4. Select Always Activate from the drop-down
  5. Restart Firefox

Let us know if the above steps do not resolve the issue.

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.

You will need to restart Firefox for this to take effect so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).

Then perform these steps:

  1. Click the menu button New Fx Menu and select Options on Windows or Preferences on Mac or Linux.
  2. Select the Advanced panel and then the General tab.
  3. Uncheck Use hardware acceleration when available.
  4. Restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

If the problem is resolved, you should check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in these Knowledge base articles:

Silverlight is showing, but you only see the version number and not the plugin name: 5.1.40728.0

However I'm not seeing the Shockwave Flash plugin as installed and enabled.

Your system details list doesn't show that the Shockwave Flash plugin is installed and enabled.

  • Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins

You can find links of the latest Shockwave Flash player for Firefox on this page:

You can verify on the Adobe Flash Players Test Page that the Flash plugin is working and which version you have.
