Upgraded to latest version of firefox (41.0) this morning... and have had nothing but crashes since. I uninstalled... reinstalled, still crashing. I reset all add-ons and settings... still crashing. Had no crashes in previous version.

Windows 10 32GB Ram

Please assist... I HATE Chrome... and really don't like Edge or IE... but am very frustrated right now!

Just get a Not Responding message.... and no response... multiple sites.

This is not a cure, but should let the web page load without crashing.

Flash block {web link} Never be annoyed by a Flash animation again! Blocks Flash so it won't get in your way, but if you want to see it, just click on it

If you have problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions then check this:

  • see if there are updates for your graphics drive drivers

https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration

  • disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)

  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

We're sorry to hear that Firefox is crashing. In order to assist you better, please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
  2. Copy the 5 most recent Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.

Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

Thanks for the assistance... about:crashes shows nothing... just a blank screen. I did go into task manager this last crash... Firefox showed "not responding" with zero CPU usage. Farther down... I did find an issue (I will get the exact name when it happens again) .... the Firefox Plugin Container (or something like that) was using like 16% of the CPU... I did an "end task" on it, and suddenly Firefox was responding normally again.

Can you suggest a good way to isolate which plugin is acting up? Also... I did not have this issue in the previous version of Firefox... is it possible to revert to the older version?

Use this link to check that your plugins are up-to-date. If any are listed as unknown or research, do not worry about them.

Separate Issue; Your System Details shows;

Installed Plug-ins

Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape 10.1.15 Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape 15.8.20082
Having more than one version of a program may cause issues. You must remove the older programs. Then get the current full installer.

Adobe Reader Version 2015.008.20082 Note: McAfee Security is offered in the download.

Some more information:

DMP files manually generated after the Plugin Container crash are inconclusive... they show a "unknown third party driver" caused the crash.

"Crash Dump Analysis

Crash dump directory: C:\Windows\Minidump

Crash dumps are enabled on your computer.

On Fri 9/25/2015 3:04:11 PM GMT your computer crashed crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\plugin-container.DMP This was probably caused by the following module: Unknown () Bugcheck code: 0x0 (0x0, 0x0, 0x0, 0x0) Error: CUSTOM_ERROR A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. Google query: CUSTOM_ERROR"

I did isolate the issue to Adobe Flash (big surprise, right?). Unfortunately I have to leave Flash installed to access several pages that use it. I hope Flash dies one of these days... it is a major PITA! Any suggestions on improving Flash compatibility with the latest version of Firefox would be appreciated!

On the dual Acrobat plugins... I have the latest Reader version installed for Web use.... and an older Acrobat version installed for PDF creation / modification. They do seem to co-exist without issues. I do have the Reader version set to Activate in FF, and the Acrobat version is Never Activate. Seems to work!

I do have some crash reports now... pasted below: Report ID Date Submitted

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) to see if that helps.

You can check for problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions and try this:
