I want to set Firefox to warn before closing multiple tabs but the checkbox to do so is missing from the Tabs section in Options. I noticed the " Warn me when opening multiple tabs might slow Firefox down" checkbox is not there either. How do I get the missing checkboxes back?

The upload of the screencap didn't get through earlier, here it is.

Type about:config<enter> in the address bar. If a warning screen comes up, press the Be Careful button. At the top of the screen is a search bar. Type browser.tabs.warnOnClose and set it to true

The Tab warn items in "Options/Preferences > General or Tabs" are hidden when the related prefs have the default value and warnings are enabled. They only show when you toggle the related prefs on the about:config page. Note that this may require to close and restart Firefox.

  • "Warn me when closing multiple tabs" (browser.tabs.warnOnClose: true)
  • "Warn me when opening multiple tabs might slow down Firefox" (browser.tabs.warnOnOpen: true)
