I need the password files to be saved and pulled from a different location other than its current C:\Users\-username-\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

files: key3.db & logins.json plus whatever other file is needed to store the passwords & logins for my firefox sessions

i want it to be directed to my H:\

Thanks in ADVANCE! using Firefox 43

Hello hseldon, i think is impossible to MOVE ONLY key3.db & logins.json in another place and firefox to read from that place when needed.

Of course you can copy the above files and keep it as a backup in another location, yes you can do it.

If you want to create backups wherever, try this out,

These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox

FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backups of files that you choose.

All your personal data is always stored in the Firefox profile folder. You would have to create the Firefox profile folder in a different location by using "Choose folder" if you want files to be saved there. Note that you should always specify an empty folder for the profile folder and never a folder that already has other files. If you create a folder other than in the default location then the cache will be there as well and not in AppData\Local.

I would like to know is it possible change the location it saves it to or not? The current file location gets deleted this being the reason I know you can change the cache location like below through FF browser:

about:config

•Right click anywhere in the browser and goto 'New' and select 'New String' from the Menu. •Enter browser.cache.disk.parent_directory as the preference name •Enter the path to the new cache location, example: d:\firefox_temp.

NO - the password files alone can't be relocated by them self. As cor-el stated, the entire Profile folder could be moved to have the password files in a different location.

But, a location like H:/ raises a question in my mind if that might be an encrypted drive? If so, that can present issues unrelated to the Profile folder merely being moved from the default location. Or might it be a removable drive? Like maybe a USB Flash drive? If either is the case, if you inadvertently ever open Firefox without that "drive" being plugged in, Firefox would just go ahead and create a new Profile in the default location - meddling with your "grand plan".

As far as your question about relocating the Cache. The cache is in a secondary Profile location - C:\Users\-username-\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\Profile_name\

Yes, the cache can be relocated, but if you move the "main" Profile folder away from its default location the Cache will follow into the same folder as the "main" Profile remote location. So there's no real point in talking about moving the Cache. Though I do realize you used that as an example of a pref that you found in about config for relocating files.
