A month or two ago, social media feeds shown on a number of (Wordpress) websites I visit regularly stopped displaying. After disabling all extensions and plugins, working in Safe Mode, and creating new profiles, I have identified the issue. It seems that the feeds display until I choose the "Never Remember History" setting, at which point they become disabled. This is new as I've had the "Never Remember History" setting on for years. Any idea how and why these two elements are not playing nice together suddenly?

hi gotojo, what you're seeing is probably the new tracking protection feature in private browsing in action (as "never remember history" is practically a permanent private browsing mode). however, since this totally optional, you can easily turn it off in the privacy section of the options panel: Turn off Tracking Protection

Thanks philipp. OK, I'll go play with the new settings and report back. I'd like to find a way to stay in private browsing without losing the visibility of social media feeds. In the meantime, do you know, more precisely, why social media feeds are now disabled by private browsing mode?

the tracking protection feature (again: optional, you can turn it off as well) is blocking known domains with the capabilities of tracking you and your browsing behaviour across multiple websites. since many social media feeds/like buttons etc fall into this category as well, they are blocked by tracking protection as well... for more information about this, please see https://disconnect.me/trackerprotection

Thanks for all the super details, it's much appreciated. I'll go read up on the resources you provided and spend some time playing with my settings and report back on the best configuration I managed to arrange to suit my needs. thanks again for the helpful supplemental information you provided.
