I cannot get Google Maps to work after "refreshing" firefox. Used to work. Any idea on how to fix this please?

I have recently refreshed firefox due to continued slowness. Immediately after refreshing and using the defaults, google embedded maps will not load. There is just a blank space. These display correctly using Opera (and used to work immediately prior to the refresh on Firefox). Any help would be appreciated as it is making me grumpy. The only non default add on is Ghostery.

Hi, I would try temporarily disabling Ghostery. Also delete all references to the website in question, as shown under the heading 'How do I remove a single website from my history?' in this article - Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox, then try the site again.

Note your Shockwave Flash is a little out of date - Add-ons Manager (Ctrl+Shift+A) > Extensions.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you.

Firstly thank you for taking the time to respond but the issue remains.

I removed all history, disabled Ghostery. No joy.

I then updated Flash (which strangely continues to say it is outdated on one options screen but up to date in another part, even after the update). I then tried again with Ghostery still blocked. Either way I still have the problem.

Annoyingly it is all fine on Opera. To be honest the constant need to "refresh" Firefox as it very slow plus the need to reset all the options each time and re-import plugins combined with this issue mean I will probably end up using Opera (although I much prefer Firefox's layout etc).

What is most annoying is it worked fine before the refresh....

Still thank you for trying and being so quick to respond.

Type about:plugins in the URL bat and hit Enter,

See if you have multiple Flash DLL files listed. If more than one is present that can cause different versions to be reported in different places. And may cause various other problems related to Flash.

To fix that, use the Flash un-installer and do a clean installation.

Adobe Flash is notorious for not always removing old Flash Plugin DLL files as part of a Flash program update. Sometimes the user needs to uninstall Flash completely and get a clean start.

First, grab the Adobe uninstaller from here: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html

Then download the latest Flash Plugin version from here: Select the Windows > Plugin-based browsers - the EXE version. https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html

Run the Flash uninstaller program, then reboot your PC. Then install the Plugin version of Flash. So you'll have a clean installation of Flash for Firefox.
