Thunderbird 45.0 on OSX does not display a scrollbar to move through messages. Scrolling still works with mouse or touchpad, but I can find no easy way to move from one end of a long list of messages to another. Previously the scrollbar which appeared at the right-hand edge of the message list served this function on a click and drag.

This is a common update issue with third party Themes. To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try the following:

  • Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled". If Thunderbird works like normal, there is an Add-on or Theme interfering with normal operations. You will need to re-enable add-ons one at a time until you locate the offender.

Probably Zindus as, though long retired I found it lurking. I say 'probably' as when I re-enabled it along with a couple of others the scroll-bar still worked!
