Change what's displayed in Bookmark Sidebar

It would appear that a feature of Bookmark Sidebar has been removed. It used to be that when a bookmark was selected in Bookmark Sidebar the path to the location of that bookmark was shown. Which folder contained that bookmark. That feature is now missing.

This is a major bummer as I have a TON of bookmarks.

Am I missing something or Is there a work-around or fix for this issue?

TIA

Here's hoping I get an e-mail if someone responds to my query.

I forgot to mention that I'm running Windows 7.

Do you mean when you use the search bar in the bookmarks sidebar?

You would have to open the bookmark in a tab and click the star on the Navigation Toolbar to see the full path. There are extensions for the Bookmarks Manager (Library) to add a Parent column and make it easier to locate a bookmark via search:

Hi cor-el Yes when I use the search field that's located at the top of the bookmark sidebar. Currently when I open the bookmark sidebar I can see the bookmark folders. But once I type in something in the search field the bookmark folders disappear and all that's in the window are the hits (finds). When I select one of the hits by clicking on it that bookmarked page opens up but the folders aren't shown in the sidebar.

When you say I should click the star on the Navigation Toolbar to see the full path that isn't happening for me.

I should mention that I exported my bookmarks to my desktop; deleted all of firefox, files and all, then downloaded and installed the latest version and them imported my bookmarks.

Ever since then the split screen effect I was seeing within the bookmarks side bar prior to my exporting, installing, etc. is no longer there.

Also, now when I search for something in the sidebar and then click on one of the hits, when that bookmarked page opens up the star that should be blue isn't blue. So it's bookmarked but it isn't if you know what I mean.

Thanks again

Easiest is to use the Bookmarks Manager (Library) to do the search and use the above mentioned extensions to have a parent folder column in the Library.

If you have found the bookmark via a search, but do not know what folder it is in then you can open this bookmark in a tab. You can open the bookmark in Offline mode ("File > Work Offline") to prevent opening the link from internet. The star should get a blue highlight and if you click the star then you open the "Edit This Bookmark" dialog. This pop-up shows details including in what folder the bookmark is located. You can open the folder tree via the Down arrow button that is outside the folder field and scroll down until you see the selected folder.
