I have several email accounts and despite the fact that I have the setting set to 'never delete', my sent folders only contain the last 30 days of sent messages. This is not acceptable. How do I get my sent messages back?

If you have Thunderbird set to not delete them then I suggest you look at your providers retention policy.

It is not my service provider. They are still sitting on the server.

What are you using? Pop or IMAP. What you claim makes no sense. Pop does not sync sent folders with the server and imap does not delete via the client without removing from the server.

POP. Perhaps I shouldn't have said they are still sitting on the server. When I log into my mail account via my service provider my sent messages are still there but not on Thunderbird.

You do understand that with POP the inbox is the only folder the client connect with? Messages sent from Thunderbird go into the local sent folder and messages sent from the providers webmail page go into the sent folder there. Those 2 folders know nothing of each other and never sync up.
