An update has taken away my new tab toolbar button updated version, add on - does not add a blank tab as before. How to fix this in Windows 10

I like the option of either opening a blank new tab or using the "show the many... frequently visited or whatever'
The old version works... the revised version does not.

I suggest you change your New Tab page to Blank: Customize your New Tab page to hide or display content, then use the '+' to the right of the tabs to open a new one.
