Lost the option to browse inbox/outbox/etc. pages (i.e. page 1 of 6, 2 of 6) etc. I see only one page with older emails becoming inaccessible with each new mail

When I installed thunderbird, I remember having the option to see inbox/outbox etc. mails as they were accumulating, IN PAGES, like for example page 1 out of 6, 2 out of 6 etc. or something like this. This appeared at the bottom border after the last mail in the inbox/outbox/etc. page. Now this option is (somehow) not available so as I cannot check e-mails that excede the page length. As a result I have no access to older emails as new mails are coming in, just because there is no access to previous pages. In other words, if I have 200 emails and only 30 are visible in the page, the rest are not accessible. Note that I have checked the option to KEEP mails and my mailbox is not older that June 2016 with less that 300 incoming mails.

PS1 This happens on my office installation. At home where I have access and using outlook, ALL inbox mails are accessible and span 6 pages so far.

Thank you very much in advance

In all my years of using Thunderbird, I've never seen anything which indicates 'pages' in the main user interface. That's an outlook or even webmail thing.

The only thing I can think of which mentions eg: 10 of 162 is when I'm using the 'Global Search'. It will list search results 10 per page. To see more you click on the 'More' button located bottom right - near last search on that page; then it will show 20 of 162.

So you need to clarify what it is you are talking about.

If talking about the main interface , where you have the 'Folder pane' on the left showing mail accounts and folders. If you select a folder and emails are missing from the message list, it is possible the .msf indexing file is no longer in synch with the mbox file. Various things can cause this. Repair the index and it will then show exactly what is in the 'folder'.

So, if the problem is the 'Inbox' folder: right click on Inbox folder and select 'Properties' Click on 'Repair folder' button click on OK

select another folder and then reselect 'Inbox'.
