Sold one of my laptops; how do I 'unsink' it... clear all bookmarks and ties to my current and ongoing Sync account?

We LOVE Firefox but have had a few problems with the Sync feature. Sold an older laptop and want to 'unsync' it from our collective account without affecting said account. When I 'disconnect' or 'unsync' it, I do not want to affect any of my collective bookmarks, sync settings, etc.

I accidentally discovered that what I do on one system affects all 4 of our systems without allowing for some system differences.

When I was trying to delete unrelated bookmarks on our children's computer, those folders and files were deleted from all our machines, which I did not want to do. I found no way to recover once the files were gone. We are proponents of natural health for example which holds no interest to the children, and when I deleted the 'Health' file, 2 years of research sources were lost!!!

I am not a computer nerd nor even close to being an accomplished user so we need some help. thank you in advance for your assistance.

Disconnect from Sync thru Options > Sync = Disconnect That will disable your connection with the Sync server where Mozilla stores user data.

And then to get rid of your data on the "sold" laptop by creating a new Profile and then deleting the current Profile. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles
