My email server is stopping their service and I just joined a new email server. I would like to transfer my address book to the new one. I understand from the Tech support from my old email server that since the old and new are both IMAP I will lose all my old emails and my address books. How can I save them (copy? paste? save on the desktop?, whatever) so that I have them to use with my new email server? The old email server is going to dump me any day! Thank you, rpeters

Export all your mail as MBOX files using the import export add-on. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/importexporttools/

Then reimport them into Thunderbird using the same tools to the "Local Folders" part. That will break the link to your mail server so they will just stay.

You addresses in Thunderbird are not linked to the mail account, so simply adding the new provider should see them simply become available the same as they were in your old account.

I couldn't open it in Firefox. Notification said it was not a verified add-on by Firefox????? That does not make sense if it is for use with Thunderbird!

That happens when you attempt to install a Thunderbird add-on in Firefox. See http://xenos-email-notes.simplesite.com/416814616
