I've used Thunderbird for years without problems but a couple of weeks ago it stopped downloading my email. It says it is connecting to my ISP but nothing is downloaded. This went on for several days, then it worked normally for a day, then stopped working again. I also cannot send mail. I Tried manually creating a new account and that one worked for a day then failed too.

This inconsistent behavior is most likely due to problems with the e-mail server, not Thunderbird.

Are you using POP or IMAP? What is the part of your e-mail address after the @ symbol?
