Under the "Warn you if sites try to install add-ons" and next to it "Exceptions" that when pressed it *used* to have a bunch of sites blocked and now I only have two sites that are allowed: addonsmozilla and testpilot something...

Yes, that is correct. You would normally only see these two default exceptions, one for the AMO website and one for the Test Pilot website.
