I am running the Edge browser right now because Firefox will not open up at all. For the past couple of months Firefox has been extremely slow in opening, (approx. 5 to 10 minutes). But when open seemed to work ok. Today, I have tried multiple times for over a half day and it will not open at all.

What's your computer system and Firefox version?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

I am running a Dell Inspiron 1764 with an Intel Core i5, 64 bit processor. I am using Windows 10 for the OS.

I have tried opening Firefox in safe mode using the "shift" key and nothing happens. Since I cannot open Firefox I am having a hard time figuring out where to go to find the Firefox version. If is see it correctly it is 53.032.6333, created on 4/25/2017.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.

It is possible that your firewall or other security software blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program. Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to install for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
