I have 2 emails ie kg4w@comcast.net (windows 7) rockeyhughes@comcast.net (windows 10) The windows 10 is the one I am having trouble with. The windows 7 email is working great, but the windows 10 email (all of a sudden) does not send or receive emails. Both have been working for years. Here's what I have done - 1st, I made sure that I could log into comcast directly as rockeyhughes@comcast.net, using it's password and that works great, as I can get and read emails. I then returned to thunderbird and played around with settings etc to no avail. I then decided to delete the account from within thunderbird for rockeyhughes@comcast.net and attempted to add new mail account using the same rockeyhughes@comcast.net & password. Thunderbird recognizes the iso etc then i selected both pop3 & imap versions, but when I click "done", Thunderbird says something like "thunderbird cannot verify the account information.

First, make sure that Thunderbird is up-to-date. Download & install the latest version of Thunderbird if necessary. You will not lose anything by doing this.

When you create an account in Thunderbird, it is either an IMAP account or a POP account. It cannot be both. When an IMAP account is created, it cannot be converted to POP, and visa versa.

When you set up the account in Thunderbird, click the Manual config button, then make sure that the settings are as I show them in one of my screenshots below. The first screenshot shows the IMAP settings. The second is for POP.
