Every time I open Firefox this error message opens a new window or tab. How do I fix this? I am using Safari more and more because of this. Thanks.

Can you think of any website you open at startup or any add-ons that would be linked to your Google account?

One possible culprit would be an extension. You can view, disable, and often remove unwanted or unknown extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Command+Shift+a (Windows: Ctrl+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. All extensions are optional. If in doubt, disable.

Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox to make the change effective. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Any improvement?

I’m not very familiar with iOS/Macs, but would think the error is somehow related to an incorrect, old or perhaps even duplicate client ID, and the issue might be solved by removing the associated plist file for Firefox, possibly after uninstalling Firefox, and then reinstall Firefox afterwards. I think the file is /Users/User/Library/Preferences/org.mozilla.firefox.plist, but other Mac users may know better.

Could you give that a try? You should not lose any data and settings when uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, but it’s always good to create a backup of your Firefox profile folder first.
