Just linked bookmarks on multiple devices and sync keeps deleting my bookmarks?

In early August I finally (after a million years) sunk the bookmarks between my home computer and my laptop. I thought I selected "merge" bookmarks. And after I did the 1st sync all seemed well I had over 900 matching bookmarks on my home computer. But then a couple days later I only have 40 bookmarks on my laptop. I keep restoring the 919 from history but what did I do wrong when linking the computers. And what do I need to do to stop this weird deleting of all my bookmarks?

Thank you! C

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks and history) in the Firefox profile folder.

See also:

If the Places Maintenance extension can't repair the places.sqlite database then remove all places.sqlite file(s) in the Firefox profile folder to make Firefox rebuild the places.sqlite database from the most recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

If you use Sync to sync bookmarks or history then best is to disconnect Sync while performing maintenance/repair efforts to files in the Firefox profile folder. Best is to (re)connect one device at the time and wait for the initial Sync to get finished before connecting another device once you have fixed the bookmarks.
