can't set up new account: need real person tech support.
Recently went to Spectrum for cable TV, internet, and e-mail. I've managed to get registered on line with Spectrum and established an e-mail account. However, I have to go online to Spectrum to receive e-mail whereas Thunderbird can be accessed at my desktop. I'm old and not particularly savvy with computer technical terms. in the past gvtc and Windstream have gotten me connected on thunderbird. However, Spectrum does not have support for e-mail. I just keep being referred to other websites. I therefore have been looping myself into frustration. Please help. If you would want to call my number is: (830) 388-6388. I'm sure you can get me set up in just a few minutes. Thank You, Richard Van Lieu

You could avoid all this by using a free account from the likes of Google, Hotmail and so forth, as such an account would follow you around regardless of which ISP you use.
But let's try to set up this spectrum account.
I recommend activating the traditional menu, across the top of Thunderbird. Press F10, or alt and v, then go to View and then Toolbars. Tick the check box for the Menu Bar.
Now you have the menu, go to File, then New, then Existing Mail Account.
You do NOT want a "new account" - you already have the account, so it is not a "new account" , but an "existing account", as far as Thunderbird is concerned.
Fill in your name, the email account's address and its password, then click on "Continue", and let's see how it goes from there.
There is a website here that gives some settings for spectrum email, so it appears that they anticipate their users working spectrum email via an email client.

The bad news is that spectrum email appears to be handled by charter and they (charter) have been having their own problems recently.

Thank you so very much. I'm an old dude in geezer status. I knew this could be solved easily by someone who knows what they are doing. Very Best Regards, Richard
