Every tutorial for Thunderbird passwords says under tools select options or security. I have neither options or security on my tools tab. How do I change a password if there is no way to access the password manager?

As you use Linux, the Preferences should be under Edit > Preferences.

Sumo KB instructions should appear for the platform you view the article on, such as in Protect your Thunderbird passwords with a Primary Password, or you can toggle the viewer’s options at the left of the article.

Note that this article is an example and about setting a Master Password, but it does show the Security panel you were looking for.
