It is a fairly new feature and a graduate from Firefox Test Pilot.

The images are not just saved for 14 days, you can select to save them for a different length of time. This article will help with that.

The Firefox Screenshot extension is fairly new, but the feature to take a full page screenshot has been present in Firefox for quite a few years as part of the developer tools.
