Can't find the place to view "return receipts" in Thunderbird

I sent myself an email to a Hotmail account I own to experiment with the "return receipt" feature in Thunderbird. Hotmail/Outlook acknowledged I had requested a return receipt from myself and gave me the option to send one back. I clicked yes, but when I went back into Thunderbird and checked the message in my Sent folder that I had just sent to see if it contained a return receipt, I didn't see one. I'm not sure if I'm going about this the right way or not, because if Thunderbird has a way to request return receipts, then it should also have a way to view return receipts, but I don't know what that is.

Here are some screenshots I took:

The first image shows you have created an email and used the read receipt. Created and sent using Thunderbird; the email address in the 'From' will be the one that should receive the confirmation of read receipt. This was 'From' a gmail email address sent TO a hotmail email address. The other images show the received email sent to the 'To' email address stating a read receipt is requested and has been sent after you clicked on the link. These images are viewed via outlook/hotmail webmail account.

The read receipt email would be sent to the original 'From' gmail email address which requested the read receipt. As this was a mail account in Thunderbird, this should get downloaded into the Thunderbird account that sent the original email.

re :checked the message in my Sent folder that I had just sent to see if it contained a return receipt, I didn't see one.

It would not be in the 'Sent' folder as this only contains emails you have sent - not received. It should appear in the 'Inbox'.

If it does not appear in the Thunderbird gmail Inbox, then check the gmail webmail account to see if it has arrived and been put in a different folder. If the gmail account in Thunderbird is a POP mail account, it can only access and download from gmail server Inbox, so if the read receipt email had been put into any other server folder (not Inbox) then it cannot be accessed nor downloaded into Thunderbird gmail Inbox.

Please read info at the following links regarding gmail and read receipts.

Thanks Toad-Hall. I just checked my webmail Gmail and I didn't see any read receipt notifications in my inbox, so I guess I must not have received any in my Gmail at all. Also, according to the links you posted, standard Gmail accounts (i.e. so-and-so@gmail.com) don't appear to honor requests for or receipt of return receipts, the way that Gmail for work or school (i.e. using so-and-so@company.com or so-and-so@university.edu over Gmail) appears to.

Also, to clarify, when I checked my webmail Gmail, I also checked my "All Mail" folder in addition to my inbox, but I still didn't see anything. So I guess I didn't get anything.
