I can't find an option to enable the extra status bar at the bottom. Also, all status bar extensions ceased to work with Firefox version 57. The small overlay at the bottom doesn't work for me, because it covers parts of the page when hovering over a link. Also I cannot see anymore if a page is still loading resources in the background. Additionally I want to place icons in the bottom corners, e.g. the downloads icons/progressbar or from addons like ad blocker. Can you please enable an option to bring it back or reenable that addons can add it again?

Hi, a status-bar API is being worked on. If you really need this add-on or if you are able to live without it. If this add-on is essential to you, then you will probably need to downgrade to Firefox 52 ESR (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/) but be aware that FF 52 will be much slower than Firefox Quantum.

Hi thanks for the fast answer. I installed it and now my complete history is gone. great. Also existing extensions are just "disabled" without a button to enable it, so I had to reinstall all of them. Meh. That's more problems created than solved. I wonder why the status bar was removed at all? Why is it to hard to keep options to things which get removed by default? Edit: I found my old history in the profile folder in the file "places.sqlite.corrupt". I think I have to wait until the status bar API is finished... Edit2: I got a link to version 56 from a nice reddit user: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-older-version-of-firefox#w_i-still-want-to-downgrade-ae-where-can-i-get-the-previous-version this keeps my history and the status bar still works :) - for others: pay attention to the warning on the download page.

Hello @Darktemp The problem with corrupted history / profile is caused by FireFox 55. I see it like they corrupted your profile so you will not be able to go back to ESR (FF52) and after that they disabled most of the features and add-ons. More info

the solution is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/FirefoxCSS/comments/7hdouv/is_it_possible_to_make_the_status_bar_permanent/dqrf1pc/

need to put in userchrome.css file at the bottom. works with tabs on bottom. works with search on bottom extension.

i cant copy and past the code here because its getting mangled and it seems this forums doenst have a code tag that i can see. so you need to view that reddit post to see the code. but it is working for me.

userchrome.css file is here: "C:\Users\XXXXXXAppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\XXXXXXXX.default\chrome\userChrome.css"

replace x's with your custom values obviously from your own computer.

Hi, thanks for the link! :) It looks quite good!

There are still two things which are not like the old version: 1. it doesn't show "ready" when the page has finished loading. 2. you cannot move icons (e.g. adblock or download status) into the status bar. I'm still puzzled why this is not just an option in base firefox without addons/editing stuff manually :(

Hi, a few weeks ago, I finally updated to the latest version (today 59.0) and accepted the fate that I cannot use the status bar anymore.

With the answer by "backbuttonsucks", the status bar stays visible all the time but I cannot move elements into it. And I'm not sure if it's possible to add that function only with the userchrome thingy.
