cannot unpin top site

This is the second time I've asked the question below. Not sure if no one wants to make the effort to answer or if there is simply no solution. If there is no solution then please state this so I can move to another alternative product.

I am using the new Quantum version. I unpinned a Top Site that was one I had added myself on the earlier version of Firefox as a tile. It unpinned successfully but Firefox automatically added a top site in it's place that I don't want (why not just leave it blank?). Now when I hover over the unwanted site and click the drop down menu there is no option to unpin the unwanted top site. Pin is the only option.

I think we're all still trying to figure out how the Top Sites section of the new Activity Stream page works. If you want to switch back to the old design, you can do that:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful or accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste newt and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.enabled preference to switch the value from true to false

You likely need to reload (Ctrl+r) any open new tab page to see a change.
