My OS is Windows 7, Service Pack 1. I use Mozilla Firefox as my browser. DuckDuckGo is my serach engine. My computer is an old, but still a spritely 64 bit eMachines.

I am not a computer expert; more of a casual user of other peoples' hard work, though very cognizant of their dedication and efforts, which are very much appreciated, especially so since I am trying to live on a 1999 pension.

My problem: After exhaustive attemps, I can not install OpenOffice Writer. Kindly help.

Is this about downloading the OpenOffice setup files or about installing OpenOffice?

Note that OpenOffice is no longer supported and you can consider LibreOffice as a replacement.

If you have a problem with installing this software then best would be to try to ask advice at a Windows oriented forum.
