This is a new problem. When I right click an image, and select "Save image as" the file type defaults to Firefox HTML document. This is unusable. How do I change the default setting? Thanks Tom David

Hi, please uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 59.0.2 with a Full Version Installer

This is usually a problem with the way the server sends the file or you may have created a specific download action in the past for a MIME type. You can correct the file type yourself (.jpg or .png) when you want to save an image if the default file type is wrong or not showing.

You can check "Options/Preferences -> General -> Applications".

Thanks, but the problem seems to be that Firefox is not recognizing a photo file as such. I did not see anything in your help path that would correct this. However, I am not good at this.

Thank you for the detailed help. If I get the courage I will try it. Or I will live with the inconvenience.

Please open Options from the 3 Bar Menu then go down that page till your find the heading Applications.

In the Applications Box you should see jpeg If you Click that line you have the option to change what it does.

Mine is set at always ask. I also have through Win10 I guess default to open that is Windows Photo Viewer. So should have a picture viewer of some sort also associated with jpegs. Settings --> Apps --> Default Apps --> Pictures and choose something to open them with.

Hi again, There is no jpeg in the option box, and none comes up when I search for it. Don't know why. Maybe that is the problem?

So no jpeg in the Application box and a Option to choose what to do with it.

Suggest download then close Firefox then installing https://www.getpaint.net/ Paint.net program and when it gives you options to make file default to open or to do with choose the program.

What is going on in Windows Settings under the Heading; Photo Viewer as I gave directions to ?
