how to turn off automatic page header and footer when printing
quite annoying to have to set page header and footer to blank each and every time I print. Tried to set it to blank in about:config - didn't work. Tried to set it to --blank-- in about:config - didn't work either. Yes, I did restart firefox.

There are multiple strings on the Firefox configuration page that control the header and footer when printing in Firefox. You should make sure that the following strings are empty:
-
print.print_headerright
-
print.print_headerleft
-
print.print_headercenter
-
print.print_footerright
-
print.print_footerleft
-
print.print_footercenter
-
print.printer_YOUR_PRINTER_NAME.print_headerright
-
print.printer_YOUR_PRINTER_NAME.print_headerleft
-
print.printer_YOUR_PRINTER_NAME.print_headercenter
-
print.printer_YOUR_PRINTER_NAME.print_footerright
-
print.printer_YOUR_PRINTER_NAME.print_footerleft
-
print.printer_YOUR_PRINTER_NAME.print_footercenter
You should also check that your Mac does not have any printer settings that control the header and footer of the printer since these will often override the Firefox defined settings.
Hope this helps.
