This https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1183898#answer-1026506 use to work. It seems that browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.enabled is a string tyoe now or missing. I'm not sure which is true because i have 2 profiles: in one profile (a very old profile) i had this setting set to false but for some reason after upgrading from 59.0.3 to 60 the new tab page is reverted back to the new freaking ugly style which i hate is sooooooooooooooo much. the other profile (created 1 month ago) seems to have no browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.enabled in about:config.

Anyway, how the hell do i revert to the old new tab page? the old style is soooooooooo perfect. Also how do i increase the rows on the new tab (old style)? i know i had that answer a while back while searching the internet but i can't find it anymore

For the developers of firefox: this new tab is ugly. if you feel so proud of it so be it but add an option to revert back to old style.

Hi, sorry but the preference to use the old version has been removed. To increase the number of thumbnail rows; type about:config into the address bar, press Enter, accept the warning, scroll down the alphabetical list to browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.topSitesRows then right click > Modify to change the number to e.g. 3. To reduce the number of tiles in a row; scroll down to browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.enableWideLayout and double click on it to change 'Value' from True to False.

Alternatively, you can use the add-on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/new-tab-tools/

The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers. If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select Submit Feedback... or use this link. Your feedback gets collected by a team of people who read it and gather data about the most common issues.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you.

that extension is pathetic. has nothing to do with the old version of new tab. Is there any way for the new tab ugly style to increase the icon size?
