we all need the full steps of how to transfer an old profile into a new profile so that we have two profiles
two profiles:
1. the current default one
2. and the old profile that has been transferred into the new profile
only comment with the steps very very clearly

old profile is firefox dev edition if that matters
good steps would have already included info on if that mattered or not anyway

does it matter if the old profile is a dev edition?
does it still work if old profile is a dev edition
do you need to rename anything??
i still need the full steps clearly
All things have been covered in 2 questions you have with almost the same title. Enough is enough as provided duplicate information X times over.
It is time to start trying to do what you want.
This question has been asked and answered.
this is unanswered & unsolved, im the OP
where's the direct answers to any of the questions??
"You can copy files like these with Firefox closed to the current profile folder to recover specific data."
'with Firefox closed to the current' -- that doesnt make any sense.
- are you saying when firefox is closed?
- what are you saying??
"The Profile Contains :"
when was the question 'what does the profile contain' asked?
that question was never asked here
all of the questions that was asked has never been answered so far
we all need the full steps of how to transfer an old profile into a new profile so that we have two profiles
where are the full steps to do something basic like this??
two profiles:
1. the current default one
2. and the old profile that has been transferred into the new profile
only comment with the steps very very clearly

"This thread was closed. Please ask a new question if you need help."
well a question was asked, but it was close so why does it say to
Please ask a new question if you need help."
???
still need the steps
i want to make it clear that i never asked what are the files a profile contains
and yet that comment was said: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1226090#answer-1133946
that is not an answer to a non-existent question
i also want to make it clear i never said anything about 'sharing profiles using different computer systems' @FredMcD
so that again is not a direct or good answer the ANY of the unanswered & unsolved questions asked thus far
Use the button on the about:support page or the about:profiles page to go to the current profile folder. Then you need to close Firefox (File -> Exit). Once Firefox is closed then you can use a file manager to copy files from the other profile to the current profile.
"to copy files from the other profile to the current profile."
what are the steps cos i did this
and it doesnt work currently

If you can't successfully Copy & Paste files from one Windows Explorer window into another Windows Explorer window this process is probably beyond your capabilities. You need to master the basic operating system skills before moving on to the more complicated facets involved with manually working with applications and their data files.
You were given links the the basics by Pkshadow in his posting here - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1220304#answer-1118502 - and your response was "this is far too much".
Have you even tried to read, understand, and digest the information that was hyperlinked in that answer - over the last month and a half?
There is no "simple" way, it is a complicated process which is made worse when the user needing help hasn't yet mastered the basics of working with files in the operating system. Overall it's a matter of learning it in small steps in sequence to achieve the desired goal.
You may want to follow this thread over @reddit - sounds similar to what you asked here,
https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/8zhv2b/can_someone_help_need_the_full_steps_to_transfer/
The steps very simply are this:
- Using the Firefox Profile manager, create a second profile (Profile Manager - Create, remove or switch Firefox profiles)
- Open the First profile in the Windows File Explorer
- Copy EVERYTHING
- Paste EVERYTHING into the new profile
- Done.
Simple enough.
'There is no "simple" way,'
really? so when are they going to fix it?
'may want to follow'
only link to answers, not random things that have no good replies
You've been given the steps to do this. There is not another way, nor are there plans to change how profiles behave in Firefox.
You can ask for clarification on the steps, or I can lock your thread.
'create a second profile'
you cant just copy paste? you need to create a 2nd profile??
why nobody say that?
what's the steps to create 2nd profile?
the link is too complex as someone had already noted (too complex)
it's not listed in simple steps, and there's too much colours and nosie and all this other confusion that makes it hard
i'll liek to make it clear that this is simple with chrome and not firefox, so when it comes to all software, remmber to blame the designer, not the user
if that isnt already well known i've tons of links from the best ppl in society, just ask me
I gave you explicit and clear directions on how to create a new profile, and copy everything. What more do you want?
I gave all needed directions above. What is specifically confusing?
