When I click on the Bookmark star Firefox immediately bookmarks the webpage somewhere unknown.
I used to be able to choose the bookmark folder before the bookmark was actually accomplished. Now I can't.

One click of the Star will store the new bookmark in the Other Bookmarks folder. If you click the Star a 2nd time you can select a folder to place that bookmark in.

The two click of the Bookmark Star did not work. The first click bookmarked the web-page somewhere and brought down an Edit Bookmark window and the second click just removed that window.
I removed the bookmark and again clicked the "Star." When the edit window dropped down, I then clicked on the Other Windows caret and 5 of my 38 folders dropped down. Why didn't the other 33 drop down? THey did until about one week ago. (I should learn to never update a program that works.)
If the "Edit this Bookmark" pop-up opens when you click the star once to bookmark the page then you should be able to click the second arrow on the Folder line to open the full bookmarks tree and select another folder?
Did you look at the extension I posted above to set another folder as the default folder instead of the "Other Bookmarks" folder?

Thanks for helping. The problem is that I have 38 folders and until a week ago when I bookmarked a webpage the bookmark window allowed me to choose among the 38 folders. Now, when I place my mouse on the "caret" to the right of Other Bookmarks it says "Show all the Bookmark Folders," but when I click on it I get a list with only 5 folders
