My homepage, tab preferences, and NewTabPage, reset to the default settings every time I restart the browser. About:Config resets too. I have been using Firefox since before most of you were born. As usual, switching to Opera until you get this figured out.

Thank you. This was helpful. I couldn't get all the prefs back, but at least it's not broken anymore. I have no "User.js" file on here, but the "Prefs.js file was locked and unable to edit or even preview. I managed to fix the permissions, deleted all the text and reopened Firefox. I reset all the prefs., closed the app, and reopened again. Done.

Again, thanks for your help.

Hi, please follow this : If your change gets overridden, could you check for a user.js file in your profile. The following article has a section on tracking that down: How to fix preferences that won't save.
