I am just trying to install gcontactsync addon which I always have used with Thunderbird. However, I cannot install it as it says the file appears to be corrupt. Thunderbird also is now giving me that same error almost all addons. I using debian linux mx17.1.

I start Thunderbird. Then go to Addons. When that opens I go to browse addons and select gcontactsync. I then click on gcontactsync and it appears to download. Then a message comes on the screen saying it cannot be installed because it appears to be corrupt. I have installed addons many times before and found it quite easy so getting this message was surprising to me. I also noticed that on the addons page, most of the addons have a redcircle with a line through it below the download now button. I would appreciate any help you can give.

Download the .xpi file from https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/gcontactsync/

Then follow the instructions in this article to install it (A slightly less ideal case). https://support.mozilla.org/kb/installing-addon-thunderbird
