I need to know how to recover the emails that were in my inbox and get my calendar tasks back from my old profile. I have already recovered my local folders emails and my address book entries by copying specific files from my old profile to the new one. The profile tool does not seem to be the right tool to use.

The move of your profile WAS the right tool to use, But not you have this thing you have created that contains new mail and other things you want to keep so doing it the right way is no longer possible. You could keeps moving files a bit here and there and fixing the issues that arise like the fire service in a wildfire. Or you could just copy your old profile in it's entirely and end the process.

I had a bit more serious problem. After reinstalling the system, I lost important data, including mail. For recovery, I tried to use this utility http://www.emailadepts.com/ThunderbirdRecovery.htm and, to my luck, everything worked out. Therefore, I think that with the help of it you will be able to recover your emails.
