I'm having over a month now a very very very slow Firefox. I tried several things, like resetting firefox, complete uninstall and install, deleting every trace of the program from my PC, sfc /scannow , installing the beta version or the nightly, but nothing worked so far.

A few weeks ago when I uninstalled and installed again, it seemed to work just fine, but a few days later the problem came back, and stayed. The program IS responsive, but the pages take ages to load. It's seem slow to establish the connection and the slow to transfer the data. The same pages on chrome and even better on edge are very fast.

I'm using Windows 10 64bit, 16GB RAM, on a Ryzen 7 CPU with a 1050Ti GPU. Any ideas?

Sorry, i all ready tried most of the above and nothing works. Safe mode does nothing basically because the first thing i tried is to disable all the extensions.

I have the latest video drivers, and i don't have a high CPU or RAM usage. Some times i see the message that firefox is running, if i quit the program and try to start it again immediately.

The problem seems to be on the networking side as i said, but only for firefox. I even tried to disable AVG but that didn't fix it either .

It is possible that your firewall or other security software blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox application. Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

It was in the allow list of the programs. Here is an example of the delay. Log in my synology nas , Firefox 35 sec, Chrome 25 sec, Edge 14 sec

Is proxy in Firefox set up to No proxy or to sth else?

Yes proxy is set to No proxy. I've read that in some version when you leave at the default (system proxy) it makes a search anyway. There is no system proxy anyway. Right now i'm using firefox an an 10 year old dell machine, and it's way faster than my home PC.

Yesterday Firefox was almost unusable (yes THAT slow) so because i was tired of trying to fix it, i bit the bullet and i decided that after many many years it's time to move on to another browser. So i transferred my passwords to chrome, and then i exported them to a csv file in order to use a tool to import them in Edge.

I did all that, and edge is very fast, and while i was on it, i linked a Microsoft account in order to sync (doesn't work for me BTW) and i made Edge the default browser again.

After a few hours i decided to make a comparison of the load times of various popular pages between Edge and Firefox. And here is the twist, Firefox was FAST, very FAST again!!! The only change I've made in my system is to put Edge back as the default browser.

This morning i opened Firefox again , and it's still very fast. In comparison the time to login into my NAS gone from 35sec to 10!!!!, and popular sites like Facebook or YouTube load at a blink now.
