Facebook or even youtube all appear privary error

Please explain the problem in detail. What happens? What is the exact error messages?

the passsword list is missing

If you have sync, and there is a problem anywhere, Shut Down Sync Immediately On All Devices to prevent the problem from spreading. Once the problem is fixed, perform the same repair on all computers/profiles before using sync again. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Type about:preferences#security<enter> in the address bar. Look under Logins,

Note: For Firefox 56+ its; about:preferences#privacy Look under Forms & Passwords +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Turn on Remember Logins. To check the passwords you have listed, press Saved Logins.

Press the Exceptions button and see what's inside.

I got the empty password list problem, which is extremely annoying.

I read that one advice is to disable sync (for fear that the cloud data has been deleted by the faulty Firefox instance).

Actually, since my Firefox had lost all its passwords, the sync password was lost as well, and it couldn't connect to the Sync server, thus preventing a deletion of the server's data. There was indeed a warning about not being connected to the sync server. An attempt of connection would ask for the password, which I didn't give at that step.

I checked the logins.json and key4.db files, they were present and didn't seem to be corrupted, however it was not possible to be sure.

Here is what I did to solve this very annoying problem : - Start Firefox with the profile choice option - Create a new profile and start Firefox - Setup the sync credentials (you must know your sync login and password, I retrieved them from another installation) - The new Firefox instance syncs (loads) data including the password list. - All the passwords were there. - Setup a master password (not synced apparently ?) - Exit this instance of Firefox - Copy key4.db and logins.json from the new profile to the older profile (overwrite the files) - Start the older profile where the password used to be lost : they are back there !
