Tab Crash on certain sites after installing MS Media Feature Pack
Hey Guys,
Firefox was running smoothly till installing the Windows MediaFeaturePack x64 1809Oct (needed for some other programs). Now the tabs keep crashing when hitting certain sites. I can open Youtube's main page, but no site with an actual video on it. Can't open any site from the support.mozilla domain, etc
I tried: - start FF in safe mode - cleaning and reinstalling FF
Win 10 Pro N 64 17763.316
Any clues on what might help? Thx!

hi BlueBall, unfortunately this kind of issue is a problem for users of windows N editions after the update to windows 10 1809 & installing the media feature pack.
this would be a workaround to avoid the tab crashes: enter about:config into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named media.wmf.vp9.enabled. double-click it and change its value to false, then restart firefox once.

When you said clean ff. Does that mean you uninstalled it and deleted the mozilla folder then reinstalled it? Also get rid of that install as well when fixing firefox.

Yeah, I delete/changed the profile folder for a clean Installation.
I had no issues befor installing the MS Feature Pack and did not install it to fix problems with FF. FF was running fine without the pack. I'm pretty sure the pack is causing the issues … but what can I do about it ?! :D:D
