Hi there,

I want to Sync one email account on Thunderbird on two computers. Will have two people using the same email at a distance so want to make sure syncing works perfectly, eg, marking email as unread or starred will sync across both computers as well as both downloading the emails and marking as junk will save locally on both comps?

Both will store emails locally as well as on the server?

I have already copied across the email profile to the 2nd comp and it seems to be all working ok.

Thanks for advice.

If the account is set up as an IMAP account, the mail will synchronize across all devices with the same IMAP setup, even if TB is not used on all devices, e.g. mobile devices. Syncing things such as stars, tags and junk status might depend on the particular IMAP server. But you might have conflicts if the two people access the account at the same time. It depends on whether the users are 'active' or 'passive' when viewing the account.

Ok thanks for the info sfhowes,

Yes using IMAP.

So better if only 1 user actively accesses the email account at a time.

I tried star, tagging and marking as spam with the two comps on the same wifi and it seemed to be syncing fine.
