I have several message filters that work most of the time. However, I have one folder that gets a lot of messages that shouldn't go there. The filter is really simple. The "From" must contain a particular name, AND the subject must contain a particular phrase. The messages landing there DO NOT contain these elements, nor anything remotely similar. This is the first filter in the list. No other filters redirect into this folder. This has been going on for a long time - it's not anything new. Any idea why this is happening or how to fix it?

Guest attempting to help you. Can you add a screenshot of the filter rule to the question? Perhaps 'match any of' is selected instead of 'match all of', or there is a wild card character in there. Try deleting the rule and entering it again from scratch. You could try turning on "Filter Log" and checking the result next time unexpected emails arrive in that folder. Filter log is at the bottom of the main Filters screen - click button, then check box to enable. If it is already on, read through or search the log for the message that was handled incorrectly. Besides the advice given above, open Tools/Message Filters and make sure the correct filters are defined for each account and are applied to the correct folder.

Here's a "snip" of the filter in question. I have 2 email accounts in TB. Both have this same filter. As you can see, the "contains" are pretty specific, and the errant things showing up in my "finance" folder have nothing remotely resembling these requirements.

When the folder index (.msf file) is corrupted, it sometimes associates the wrong subject with a message. If you right-click a folder, Properties, Repair Folder, the index is rebuilt. Try that with your Inbox folders and see if it makes any difference to the filter results.
