printing of html page in duplex mode impossible from firefox 64 or 66
When I want to print a html page there is no way to print in duplex mode. Settings in printer settings are ok, the variable in about:config print.print_duplex is 1. Printing is always in simplex mode. When I check the pdf file generated in spool/cups it says producer and creator is cairo 1.9.5. The same happens, when I print a pdf-file directly from the browser - with the standard setting. When I change the opening procedure to an external pdfreader - eg. xreader everything is fine. The only way I can print in duplex, is to print the html to a file and afterwards open the file via the filebrowser. The then generated pdf file in the spool/cups directory has the producer and creator cairo 1.15.10 which was generated by the xreader 2.0.2. The problem exists with firefox 64 als well as with firefox 66. The problem is the same with 2 printers: Kyocera FS 3900DN and the Epson Workforce AL-M300DN. Both are connected via USB. The OS is Mint19.1. Does anybody know a way to change a css or to get firefox running with cairo 1.15.10

So did you do a print preview to see how it looks? Sometime html doesn't convert when printing because of the web site settings. Did you install the print driver software as well for those printers?
Yes, I took a preview. It was ok but you cannot tell from the preview wether it prints in duplex or in simplex mode. The drivers vulgo ppd files, for the printers are both uptodate.
Then that would lead me to suspect it's printer driver issues if your not getting a duplex option or that options isn't available for you to choose based on the html page.
I do not think its a driver issue. If I print a pdf using xreader I can print in duplex mode. If I print from a different browser I can print in duplex mode as well. But Chrome uses a different rendering engine and xrader uses cairo 1.15. And all of them use CUPS and its ppd file for printing - at least I assume that this is the case. FireFox 64 and 66 use cairo 1.9 however. So I should like to replace cairo 1.9 in firefox by cairo 1.15 for rendering of html and give this a try - or something else. But I don not know how to do this.
