Why does FF 66.0.3 appear to be slower than previous rev

I am running Firefox (not ESR) on my 32 bit Debian Jessie platform. Just updated to rev 66.0.3 . It appears to load pages slower than the previous rev. I have not yet had the time to do a lot of analysis but my first impression is that the new rev is NOT faster but is in fact slower. I am going to download the previous rev (65.0.2) and do some comparisons.

Just downloaded FF 65.0.2. 65.0.2 launches almost a full half second faster than does 66.0.3. I have Yahoo news set as my home page. Will try setting less graphics intensive web sites as the home page to see how that works. But initial test would indicate that FF rev66.0.3 is NOT faster.
