I have hundreds of bookmarks organized in to about 12 folders, opening and closing and opening and closing folders to get where I want is tedious. I used to use a an add on called All-inOne-Sidbar which made this very easy.

All-in-one-Sidebar died a few years ago, when Quantum came about. The best thing I can offer is for you to look for a suitable Bookmarks Sidebar add-on from this search of AMO. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?platform=windows&q=Bookmarks%20Sidebar
