Problems signing in to RBC with latest Firefox release Jan 2020

Unable to properly sign in to RBC (Royal Bank of Canada) online banking since install of the latest Firefox release 72.0.1. Windows 10, up to date. Other sites work. Chrome can access RBC ok. No error messages, it just doesn't get through the bank security protocol for some reason via Firefox. Sits with a blank screen.

Try to set this pref to false on the about:config page.

  • network.http.spdy.enabled.http2 = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.

I have this problem too, for the last few weeks. I run Firefox on Ubuntu Linux which has worked fine for 2 years. Using "Private Browsing" worked for some pages, but failed later when navigating around the site. My hunch is it's an RBC problem but the banks don't admit to much. Changed to Chrome and it works fine, but don't like the feeling that someone is watching. :-(

I agree about not liking someone watching re Google - Chrome, Gmail, etc. but I also have no problem using Chrome to visit RBC. My problems only started Feb 2 ??? I also believe it's an RBC problem but funny it only happens with Firefox so it may well be Firefox. Occasionally I can connect to RBC with Firefox ???

Worked yesterday for me. Today site freezes on a blank page. Private Browsing mode did not work.

There is no way I am switching to that odious resource pig of a browser "Chrome"! Not a chance. (Google is already way too infiltrated into my life...) >:-/

Mozilla/RBC need to fix this regression...soon.

I also have this problem with the latest Firefox update logging onto RBC. Also I cannot access the features on the Telus website. I spent about an hour with Telus Tech Support on the phone & when they suggested a different browser everything worked just fine (Chrome).

I have used Chrome only because I have to. It has not failed. Why is Firefox not fixing this?

Yup, same problem. rbc app works fine. Can connect w Chrome but I REALLY don't want to go this route. Please fix it Firefox! Robert

Is there a way to re-install older versions of Firefox? At least until this issue can be resolved by someone. Really don't want to bank with Chrome.

Fortunately, I can still do almost all my banking via the RBC Mobile app.

But, just in case, I downloaded Microsoft Edge browser. (It works...even though it's based on Chromium...at least it's Microsoft's and not Google.)

Another option is Opera. It's a fairly decent browser.

Both are preferable options than reverting to previous Firefox builds...at least to me. If you still want to try, go to the Mozilla FTP site to get version 69 or so. https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/

Never mind, doesn't work with older firefox versions (like esr) either. Pray that you are able to resolve this.

Please fix this!! Iam trying to update my husband's business accounts with Quicken. If i use Windows Explore or Chrome is messes up all my data!! Private browser doesn't work so stop suggesting it. All your other little tricks of shift keys and the like don't work either.

When I use https://www1.royalbank.com/cgi-bin/rbaccess/rbunxcgi?F6=1&F7=IB&F21=IB&F22=IB&REQUEST=ClientSignin&LANGUAGE=ENGLISH to login, I see a fingerprinter h.online-metrix.net and a tracker nexus.ensighten.com on the blue shield. Any possibility these cause a problem when logging in?

Turning off enhanced tracking for this site doesn't fix the login problem.

Ever since Mozilla force fed us "Enhanced Tracking Protection" the browser has been a nightmare to use. There are too many websites to list that are now semi-functional or dysfunctional, since that forced change. Tracking is just a part of everyday life on the internet, and has been for years. I would suggest it's the root cause of this, and many other recent problems. To Mozilla code writers : "please treat us like adults for a change, and stop turning a good browser into a "helicopter parent" browser that tries to save the world, and ultimately doesn't work well, at all". p.s. Opera works fine on RBC. No problems logging in.

Just talked with RBC Tech Support re. logging into Direct Invest: https://www.rbcdirectinvesting.com/ as well as my banking accounts.

"They are aware of the problem and are working with Mozilla to find a solution. In the meantime, since there is no solution, try using Chrome or IE and keep trying FF to see if the problem's been fixed." {sigh}

This is the first time I have had a major problem with FF. What worked yesterday doesn't work today leads me to believe Mozilla changed something a while ago {maybe the last update}, RBC changed something in the past week, now the two are incompatible.

I tried all of the suggestions here; Private to Safe, cleared cache and cookies, removed extensions, plugins and use the default theme. The only thing I haven't done {and don't see a need} is uninstall and reinstall since I have the latest version 72.0.2 (64-bit) running on Win 7.

Download and install the Opera browser. It works fine on RBC, and has gotten me around other FF issues over the last 6 months. If you're not familiar with it, it's a functional clone of Google Chrome, but more like a "lite" version of Chrome. Does everything GC and FF do. Just a suggestion.
