I have thunderbird set up with 2 imap accounts and 2 pop accounts. It has been working fine for months. This past week I can no longer download email from the inbox of the 2nd imap account. If I move email to another folder using web access to the email account, it will download to the corresponding folder in thunderbird as expected. All other accounts in thunderbird are working correctly as well as all folders in the 2nd imap account except the inbox. If have done the repair folder and deleted all msf files in all imap folders. The only thing I notice that is different is that the second imap account does not have INBOX in the corresponding imap folder. It does have an INBOX.msf file.

I have deleted and reinstalled the second imap account with no change in behavior.

Any ideas before I completely uninstall and reinstall thunderbird?

Thanks for your assistance,

INBOX.msf is the indexing file and INBOX is the mbox file. The mbox file is only seen if you have selected to download full copies and not just message headers.

Check the details in the 'Account Settings' > 'Synchronisation & Storage' section.

  • Make sure the checkbox for 'Keep messages in all folders for this account on this computer' is selected.
  • then click on 'Advanced' button and make sure 'Inbox' is selected and any other folder you want to download full copies.
  • click on OK.

Info:

Then

  • Right click on imap mail account name in Folder Pane and select 'Subscribe'
  • Click on 'Refresh'
  • Select 'Inbox' folder and click on 'Subscribe'
  • click on OK

Exit and Restart Thunderbird.

Thank you so much for your reply. Unfortunately this did not solve the problem and I still cannot receive email in the second IMAP inbox. I can sync with all other folders in that account as well as all folders in my first IMAP account. While waiting for a reply, I uninstalled Thunderbird and deleted all profiles. I then reinstalled with the same result. I cannot receive email in the second IMAP inbox. All other folders and all other accounts work fine.

Sounds like a server side issue and not Thunderbird. Who is the email service provider for the second IMAP account?

Could very well be a server side issue, but I do not see it. Both IMAP accounts are with Zoho, the one that works just fine and the one that I cannot download from the inbox. I have compared both accounts and I do not see any difference between the two. No filters on either. Will contact Zoho to see what they may have to offer.

Thanks for your suggestion.
