How to clear form

more options

It seems most answers to this question tell you to clear browsing data and the autofill entries. That's not what I want.

Say you have a form that contains previous data, whether manually entered or autofilled. You want to use autofill for the entire form, but by default it doesn't overwrite fields with entries. How do I clear the form and start fresh so autofill can do its job?

If the data is there because Firefox cached it, you can reload the page bypassing the cache using one of these methods:

  • Shift+click the Reload button on the toolbar
  • press Ctrl+Shift+r

If the data is there because the site is serving the page partially filled in, hmm, that would be a challenge.

This is a good option, but often there are multiple forms on one site and you don't want to lose the data you input in previous forms on refresh.

Oh, yes, if reloading the page would force you to start a multi-form process again, then that's not practical. Maybe there is an add-on for clearing/resetting a form when a site doesn't provide a button for that purpose.
